Fishing Tours

Explore Azuero’s famous Tuna Coast, where just miles from shore, you can reel in Yellowfin Tuna, Amberjack, Seabass, Snapper, Wahoo, and much more. Your adventure doesn’t end at the catch—our Alaya chefs will craft an exquisite meal from your fresh bounty. Along the way, spot dolphins, sea turtles, and, if the season is right, magnificent humpback whales. 

Trips to Isla Canas

 Explore the untouched beauty of Isla Cañas and its 13 km of pristine beach. Arrive by boat at high tide or walk through mangroves at low tide. Spend the day swimming, surfing, or enjoying local Panamanian food at the home of Oldemar, Alaya’s chief of maintenance. During the season, you might even witness turtles laying their eggs—a truly magical experience.

Turtle hatching

Isla Cañas is one of the most famous beaches in the world where sea turtles come to lay their eggs. This 13km-long beach is untouched by humans and as a result as many as 80 sea turtles come to lay their eggs each night from July to November. At this tour, you will be able to see turtles lay eggs, some nights up to 80 turtles walk to the shore to make their nests. Five of the 7 sea turtle species lay their eggs in Panama. 

If what you want to witness and support is watching turtle hatchlings, this tour occurs from November till January at Playa Venao. Join Sea Turtles Venao and witness the miracle of watching these baby turtles make their way to the ocean. Did you know sea turtles come back to nest at the same place where they were born? 

Mangrove Expedition

Immerse yourself in Panama’s pristine Pacific coast with a 1.5-hour mangrove adventure between Isla Cañas and the mainland. Paddle through hidden channels and discover the local flora and fauna, either on a stand-up paddleboard or kayak, as you explore this unique ecosystem.

ZipLine

Experience the thrill of 8 zip lines across 3 km of lush canopy, with 2 rappels. Soar through the treetops and feel the rush, then celebrate your adventure with a refreshing dip in a natural freshwater waterfall.



La Playita

 Discover La Playita, a secluded cove nestled beside Playa Venao. With its pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s the perfect spot for snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing on a tranquil, wave-free beach. For the best experience, visit during the week to avoid crowds and enjoy mid to high tide, when the waters are clear and the coral rocks are less exposed.

Isla Iguana

Embark on a journey from Playa Arenal in Pedasí, just 30 km from Alaya by car, to Isla Iguana. Board a boat to reach this pristine island paradise with its white sand and crystal-clear waters. The Isla Iguana Wildlife Refuge, a 58-hectare reserve, lies 5 kilometers off the Azuero Peninsula, offering a sanctuary for diverse wildlife and a serene escape into nature.

Waterfalls

During the green season, discover three breathtaking freshwater waterfalls. Two of them invite you on a jungle hike through lush greenery, while the other is easily accessible with just a short walk. Both offer a serene escape and a chance to connect with nature’s beauty.

Horseback Riding

Experience the beauty of Playa Venao from horseback on a serene beach ride. Enjoy a leisurely walk or trot along the sandy shores with stunning ocean views and the rhythmic sound of waves. Suitable for all skill levels, this ride provides a peaceful connection with nature and the tranquil coastline.

Whale Watching

From July to October, witness the majestic humpback whales as they migrate to the warm waters off the Azuero Peninsula to mate and, a year later, return to give birth. Set sail on a guided tour to observe these incredible creatures, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a mother with her baby whale. Experience the awe of seeing whales breaching, tail-slapping, and interacting in their natural habitat.

Sup or kayak in Venao

Experience Playa Venao’s stunning coastline from a stand-up paddleboard or kayak. Paddle through the area’s diverse waters, taking in panoramic views of the picturesque bay and its surrounding landscapes.
